Washing with Monat is different... I think it's important to understand how & why. Monat blends science and technology to develop products that work! First, let's dive into the shampooing. The trick with Monat is that you shampoo TWICE & you cleanse your scalp. The first wash is to break down any buildup that you have on your scalp while the second wash is to target - swell and repair hair straight from the root. Here are your shampoo instructions:

Get hair very wet
Get a nickel size amount of shampoo in your wet hands.
Emulsify (rub hands together quickly until shampoo turns white and lathery)
Shampoo your scalp - & your scalp only! You wont get a lather on this first wash.
Leave it on your hair for 1-2 minutes
Rinse super, super well!
Repeat (leave on again for 1-2 minutes). You'll get a nice lather on the second wash!
If it happens to not lather on the second shampoo, then repeat a third time. This is normal when first beginning to help break down that buildup!
If your hair feels stringy after washing; it's working! Monat is free of silicones (plastic ingredients) that coat the your hair over time. While products that contain silicones might feel good immediately after use, they put a plastic layer over your hair and cuticles that increase heat damage & suffocate your hair strands and cuticles leading to lack of growth, breakage, fading of color, and more.
Conditioner is for your ends! You don't need to condition your scalp. Your shampoo will add the necessary hydration your scalp needs. Focus on your ends from your ears down:
Gently squeeze water out of hair out before applying.
Use a nickel size amount of conditioner and emulsify in your palms until hands are white
Apply to ends
Let sit for 1-2 minutes
Rinse (recommend using cool water to help close the cuticle & hold product)
Post shower tips!
Use a cotton t-shirt or microfiber towel post shower to avoid frizz and breakage!
Use a detangler, leave in conditioner, or cc cream and a wet brush to help with tangles! Less is more! Our products are highly concentrated!
Always use a wet brush or wide tooth comb!
If using heat, always use a heat protectant! Blow out cream (for 300 degree heat) or thermal protect styling shield (450 degrees)!
TURN YOUR HEAT TOOLS DOWN! Your hair is free from build up, so make sure you don’t fry it off and damage it!
Use the oil as an overnight scalp treatment (wash in the morning) OR a finisher...not before you use heat!
Use scrunchies to avoid breakage and loosen your ponytails!
Brush your hair frequently (it’s normal to lose 50-100 strands of hair daily!)
A few things to keep in mind when you're just starting... Transitioning to naturally based products WILL inevitably bring about some changes in the beginning! You may experience…
Tacky, sticky, oiliness (this is buildup being removed...YAY!!!)
Tangles/raw/dryness (this means your hair is free from buildup and is ready for the healing process to begin! YAY!!!) Our junior detangler or unknot detangler are amazing for this!
Frizziness/heaviness (this is another form of transition...the buildup is being removed from the scalp and hair cuticle! YAY!!)
Itchiness (this means your follicles are waking up and ready to grow! YAY!!!) Use a scalp massager!
These reactions are INCREDIBLY normal and super important!! Trust the process! Please reach out to your sponsor to me to make sure you are washing correctly and using the correct products!
